What is AP Italian?

Casa Italiana offers 3 AP courses:

The AP (Advanced Placement) of Italian is an exam on the skills achieved in learning the Italian language and culture which can be taken during the 4 years of High School and is considered a university exam.

Students who have taken the exam can, based on the grades obtained, begin to accumulate credits recognized in almost all American universities and in many foreign universities.

The inclusion of a subject in the AP program promotes its teaching in high schools and colleges throughout the United States. It also allows families a significant financial saving, as it allows the acquisition of university credits at the sole cost of registering for the exam.

How to register for the exam?

Generally the exam is taken after attending an AP Italian course at high school.

In the event that the school does not offer the course, students, if in adequate numbers, can request the Principal and the Italian teacher to organize one.

Furthermore, those who already have good skills in the Italian language can take the exam individually, as a private individual. Attendance at an AP course is therefore not an indispensable requirement.

To take the AP Italian exam individually, you must contact the AP coordinator of a school where AP exams are organized and request assistance with registration. Or you can register directly by following the instructions found inCollege Board website where you can also find other useful information.
