Recognition of qualifications

Foreign qualifications have no legal value in Italy and therefore it is necessary to request recognition if the holders intend to use them to exercise a profession, participate in a competition or continue their studies.

Equivalence

The equivalence of school or academic qualifications is the procedure by which the school or academic authority determines the equivalence, for all legal purposes, of a qualification obtained abroad with a specific qualification present in the the Italian legal system. Only a final qualification can be recognized as corresponding to an Italian diploma
obtained abroad at the end of a school course.

Equivalence

The equivalence of the foreign qualification to the Italian one, obtained abroad by a European citizen and required by a specific competition notice for the purpose of admission to the exams of that competition, allows participation in that specific competition without a qualification being issued Italian (equivalence).
